Thru collaborative conversation, build trust and relationship
Build connection
Target the learners' needs
How will coaching success be measured so that we can measure and assess
Coaching transforms professional learning which leads to instructional shifts and meets the needs of all learners and foster creativity and innovation

Use surveys like speak up to measure effectiveness of coaching on tech integration

How do the roles of the coaches impact highly effective digital age teaching and learning?
Based on standards
Authentic and meaningful
Real world and relevant to students
Active and collaborative where students can learn from peers and not teachers
Students being the creators of knowledge
How do we help teachers to do this
Get them to look at how to make task into authentic ones and not just report writing
How to make it into a community where students are collaborating
Give in class coaching to help teachers push away the hurddles that they may face
Coaches to model to teachers to show them that it is possible
Share resources
Use technology (e.g. Google handouts or even email) to support teachers if you are unable to be there in the classroom

How can we align coaching efforts in supporting learning standards?
Give reluctant teachers a reason to think about tech integration
Pedagogy and content drive tech - it is no talking about the tool then see how the tool fit into the curriculum
Start conversation with learning goals then slowing lead to the use of tech in bring out the goals
(Identify the learning goals then emphasise the skills)

What are the challenges of creating and sustaining a coaching model?
1) time - be creative to find time
2) access
3) staff culture - get teachers to share their successes (create ripple effect)
4) capacity

How do coaches keep themselves up to the skills?
Read as much as possible, e.g. from blogs

Give clear expectations n celebration

Teachers role modelling
How adults work together

Questions
When do we collaborate
When do we get these prof to sit down together n do something that is valuable

Solutions
Use tech to analyse data, plan, collaborate using google docs
90 mins PLC
2 staff meetings a mth:
First meeting all teachers to come together
Second meeting - vertical PLC where teachers looked at using tech in teaching

How do u go abt hiring innovative, collaborative, flexible, creative teachers?

Teachers who do tech really really well, it's not just saving time
Be honest with teachers
Teachers who are digital natives usually usually have difficulty letting children be in charge
Need to give support to trs to be able to empower students

Important to embed tech in what we do
Give empowerment to teachers
Make PD sessions as what u will do to students so that u model to them

Reflection from Session on Planning, implementing & sustaining a blended learning program

During this workshop, the presenters shared that the 4 emerging models of blended learning:

But no matter what models we adopt, for blended learning to be successful, they added that there are 6 elements involved with the top 3 as the most important:
  • Leadership
  • Professional Development
  • Teaching/Instructional Practice
  • Operations/Admin Systems/Policy
  • Content
  • Technology
Reflecting on our programmes at ETD, we have definitely designed our programmes focussing on the top 3 areas: using TPACK as our design framework, we conducted differentiated PD for the different groups of people, e.g. LETP for school leaders; LAMP+ for key personnel; ICT mentors programmes for teachers. We are definitely on the right track. May we continue with the good work and hopefully one day we can share our suite of programmes with everyone else in the world. ;)
